Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to spend $400k to recruit conferences

Las Vegas

According to the LVCVA, targeting clients to the LUXE Vegas event represents approximately 3.8 million annual room nights and over $1.3 billion in non-gaming economic impact to the city.

On Feb. 8, 2011 the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) board of directors approved an estimated expenditure of $420,000 for the sponsorship of a client development program designed to bring more conferences to the city.

Approval for the inaugural LUXE Vegas, scheduled April 1-3, was requested by the LVCVA Marketing Division. Las Vegas will host more than 150 of its top clients and their guests from associations and corporations at this one-on-one networking event.

Invited clients will receive round trip airfare, an opening reception, hotel accommodations for two nights, activities highlighting Las Vegas attractions and amenities, a closing dinner, and entertainment tickets.

According to the LVCVA, targeting clients to the LUXE Vegas event represents approximately 3.8 million annual room nights and over $1.3 billion in non-gaming economic impact to the city.

LUXE Vegas will be the largest client appreciation and development program offered by the LVCVA during fiscal year 2011. The event will give clients and hoteliers the opportunity to meet face-to-face in an effort to win business during the three-day meeting.

The working itinerary has networking opportunities for Las Vegas Resort stakeholders at the receptions and during the closing dinner. LVCVA staff will also interact one-on-one with clients during the program.

As part of the program, a panel of travel industry executives will discuss the value of business travel and new research findings developed by the LVCVA, along with the benefits of utilizing LVCVA staff to ensure the success of both the client’s program and the destination.

The estimated cost to the LVCVA will be $420,000. Partial sponsorships for airfare, hotel accommodations, the opening reception, closing dinner and client appreciation gifts will help offset that cost.

Sponsorships for the event are estimated to be in the value of $222,200, resulting in an estimated net expenditure of $197,800 for the LVCVA.

Committed sponsors include the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Delta Airlines, Celebrity Coaches and General Growth Properties. LVCVA staff is currently in discussion with additional potential sponsors.
