BIRMINGHAM, AL — Mark Eisinger, a Las Vegas resident, was elected the 2009-10 president of Civitan International, a global service organization with more than 40,000 volunteer members in 28 countries. Eisinger began service as president on Oct. 1 and will complete a one-year term on the Civitan International Board of Directors as its chairman.
Eisinger is a highly decorated volunteer in the Las Vegas area with extensive leadership experience. He was selected as the First Interstate Bank of Nevada Employee Volunteer of the Year, and his selection as the Wells Fargo Bank Employee Volunteer of the Year resulted in a $50,000 grant to his local Civitan club. He also received four months of paid leave to focus on volunteering as the Wells Fargo Bank Volunteer Leave Recipient.
A charter member of the Las Vegas Civitan Club, Eisinger has built six more Civitan clubs that work to meet a wide variety of needs in the greater Las Vegas area – including the introduction of the country’s first swing for people with disabilities at the September San Gennaro Feast. He has served as president of the Las Vegas Civitan Club, governor of the Heart of the West District and director on the Civitan International Board. He has also received Civitan’s highest individual award, the International Honor Key.
Civitan International is one of the world’s top volunteer service organizations, with members in more than 1,300 local clubs working to meet a wide variety of needs in their communities. Civitan’s mission emphasizes helping people with developmental disabilities, and the organization’s $20 million commitment to the UAB Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is a large part of that emphasis. This state of the art center brings together top scientific minds and the latest technology to create innovative therapies and treatments for people with developmental disabilities.
