London West Hollywood hires catering director

The London West Hollywood appointed a director of catering for the hotel, a modern luxury property in California’s Hollywood Hills.

Carrie Gayle will oversee catering and operations for all of the property’s meetings and events spaces in addition to managing budgets, property staff and banquet organization.

“We are ecstatic to have Carrie join The London West Hollywood team,” said Jeff Kulek, general manager, The London West Hollywood. “With her extensive experience in the hospitality industry, we’re confident that she will continue to help grow and expand the property’s event services and highlight its culinary expertise and excellence.”

Specializing in event services and catering throughout her extensive career, Gayle brings a wealth of industry expertise to The London West Hollywood. In 1999, she began her career as the catering sales and conference service manager at Hilton San Jose and Towers in San Jose, Calif., where she managed social and corporate functions for both onsite and offsite venues.

In January 2001, Gayle became the catering sales manager at Il Forniao at the Hyatt Sainte Claire in San Jose, Calif., where she was responsible for maintaining $1.8 million for the social market. Gayle went on to become the catering sales manager of 3 West Club in New York City where she increased wedding bookings by over 100 percent  from 2003-2004.

By November 2004, Gayle took over as the catering sales manager at Battery Gardens in New York City where she developed a new catering sales department, including the design of an off-premise catering program that serviced events of over 10,000 people.

Most recently, Gayle served as the senior catering manager at The New York Palace where she increased event profitability by compiling data on food, beverage, labor and implementing new initiatives for success based on reports. Having held this position since 2007, she also developed a training schedule for the catering team for multi-platform training purposes in addition to successfully maintaining and growing relationships with key food and beverage accounts.

Gayle graduated in 1998 from York Technical Institute with a degree in travel and hospitality, including a three-year stint in the U.S. Navy from 1993 to 1996. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling and dining out. She currently resides in Culver City, Calif.
