The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority named Kate Vuturo Wik as their new chief marketing officer last month. She is responsible for the strategic direction, management, and oversight of the marketing efforts for the destination.
Wik comes to the LVCVA after spending nearly a decade with MGM Resorts International in multiple roles, most recently serving as senior vice president of marketing strategy. Prior to that she worked for advertising agencies including TBWA Chiat Day (Infiniti and Nissan USA); GM Plumbing Advertising Agency (THQ Videogames, Del Taco, SOAPnet, Kingman Paintball); and Cramer Krasselt (MGM Grand Las Vegas, Blue Man Group, Wolfgang Puck, Crystal Springs, Culligan Water, Zicam).
Wik is starting at the LVCVA not only during a pandemic but also during the largest infrastructure project in its history, the expansion and renovation of the LVCC. The project is set to add 1.4 million square feet of new space, with at least 600,000 square feet of usable exhibit space. The project should allow the destination to attract more business and allow existing clients to continue to grow their conventions. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is charged with marketing Southern Nevada as a tourism and convention destination worldwide, and also with operating the Las Vegas Convention Center. With nearly 150,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas alone and more than 11 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space citywide, the LVCVA’s mission centers on attracting ever increasing numbers of leisure and business visitors to the area.
