Mandalay Bay Achieves GBAC STAR Accreditation

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino has achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council STAR accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities. Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, Mandalay Bay has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfecting and infectious disease prevention in its convention center facilities.

Chuck Bowling MGM“Mandalay Bay is setting the standard for public health and safety best practices,” says Chuck Bowling (pictured left), president and COO of Mandalay Bay and Luxor. “As we look to rebuild the meetings and convention industry, a critical component of our business, the GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation tells our employees and clients we are committed to protecting both their health and their livelihoods.”

As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offer expert-led training, and assess a facility’s readiness for biorisk situations. The program verifies that Mandalay Bay implements best practices to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.

Patricia OlingerGBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger (pictured right) says, “GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments. By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Mandalay Bay has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.”

To achieve GBAC STARaccreditation, Mandalay Bay was required to comply with the program’s 20 core elements, ranging from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
