Cobb Travel & Tourism is thrilled to announce Melissa Legaux, CMP as the first African American female President of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Georgia Chapter.
MPI is the largest meeting and event industry association worldwide which strives to lead the world in education, networking and innovative solutions that advance both the meeting and event industry, and the careers of the professionals in each chapter. MPI Georgia currently consists of 362 members with 57 unique sponsors, including Cobb Travel & Tourism and received the 2021 Chapter Awards for Top Performing Chapter and Honorary Achievement.
Legaux continues to be an enthusiastic asset to Cobb Travel & Tourism as the Director of Tradeshow Sales. In her 15 years of sales experience in the Atlanta hospitality industry, she has a solid record of accomplishments and career progression, including receiving the President’s Award of MPI, the highest honor bestowed on a member who represents exemplary service and leadership to the chapter.
Among many responsibilities, the Chapter President of MPI Georgia should have leadership and strategic planning skills to create goals and objectives to achieve the mission and vision of MPI. As a professional who embraces every opportunity to expand her expertise and skillset, and an advocate of pushing the pendulum forward to pave the way for future leaders, Legaux will be an excellent fit as President of MPI Georgia.
“What an honor it is to watch Melissa take the helm of MPI with poise and confidence,” states Holly Quinlan, President & CEO of Cobb Travel & Tourism. “We are so proud of her and look forward to the fantastic places she will lead MPI.”
Legaux’s recent efforts were in a leadership capacity serving on the MPI Georgia Chapter Board of Directors while also serving on the MPI Global Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Women’s Advisory Board. She is honored to welcome the opportunity to serve as the Georgia chapter’s first African American female President for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
