The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) National Conference & Expo will be coming to the Metro Toronto Convention Center (MTCC) from June 11-13, 2012. This year’s event will attract a diverse group of participants working to significantly reduce the environmental impact that buildings have on Canada’s landscape.
The theme of this year’s CaGBC National Conference & Expo, the largest green building event in Canada, is Beyond Buildings: The Green City. At the event, architects, engineers, designers, developers, real estate professionals, students and decision-makers will discuss how to make The Green City a reality, and the educational content will feature six streams:
The Greenest Cities: Planning, Policies and Implementation
Beyond Zero: Next Generation Buildings and Communities
Revitalizing Existing Neighborhoods: Buildings and Infrastructure
Advances in Building Performance Management
Innovation in Greening Homes and Affordable Housing
The Green Building Industry: Markets, Technologies/Products, Jobs and Trade
“Toronto as a host city is a natural fit for our conference,” said Sarah Burns, vice president of marketing and communications for the CaGBC. “It is a vibrant, bustling city with numerous innovative green projects and buildings that provide some inspiring examples for our delegates.”
The MTCC allows planners to opt for green electricity, make their meeting a zero waste event, use a locally sourced menu and participate in carbon offsetting.
“At the MTCC, we are constantly working to minimize the environmental impact of our operations. We also offer a number of green meeting solutions to event organizers, such as 100 percent Bullfrog-powered events, which the CaGBC has implemented for Beyond Buildings,” said Barry Smith, president and CEO of the MTCC. “As a recognized industry leader in environmental sustainability, we are the ideal venue to host a green event.”
