MG Design searches for new scholarship applicants

MG Design is accepting applications for its second annual Michael Grivas Sr. Exhibit Design Excellence Scholarship program.

Awarding $2,500 to a student in an exhibit design-related field, the scholarship encourages the study of exhibit design by helping with the student’s upcoming semester as well as paying for round-trip expenses to EXHIBITOR2014 where they will be honored for their accomplishments.

“Our team was absolutely inspired by the talent we saw in last year’s submissions and we are eager to see this year’s entries,” said Michael W. Grivas Jr., CEO, MG Design. “These students are smart, creative and resourceful. They are being trained to enter this industry where many of us learned through on the job training. Getting to know these students is tremendously rewarding for our entire team. It makes us all feel good about the future of our industry and we are thrilled to help these students build their futures in exhibit design.”

The Exhibit Design Excellence Scholarship was created in memory of MG Design’s founder, Michael Grivas, a talented designer, industrious entrepreneur and industry visionary. He strongly believed that attracting and retaining talented design students is essential to fostering continued innovation.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be at least a junior currently attending an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution seeking a Bachelor’s degree in an exhibit design-related field or a graduate student in a Master’s degree program in an exhibit-design related field.
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the time of application.
  • Submit a resume citing industry experience, extracurricular activities, honors, awards and accomplishments that demonstrate creativity, leadership and excellence.

Two students were honored as recipients of the first annual Michael Grivas Sr. Exhibit Design Excellence Scholarship in 2013. NingNing Zhang, a graduate student at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and Phoebe Matthius, an undergraduate student at Bemidji State University, each received a $2,500 scholarship for the inaugural presentation on Mar. 18, during the EXHIBITOR2013 conference.

Applications and all supporting materials must be submitted by Oct. 15. For more information, visit www.MGDesign.com/designexcellence.
