More than 90 percent of retailers who registered for the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF) will receive a new “e-badge” for the summer 2010 gift, home and lifestyle market, significantly reducing resources required to print, and mail traditional paper badges.
All NYIGF pre-registrants will receive their “e-badges,” which is a personalized barcode sent by email, for August. To receive a paper badge and badge holder, e-badge recipients simply bring the barcode to any of the badge output stations onsite at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center or Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94.
“The process allows attendees to save time and resources,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “With e-badges, we reduce our use of natural resources by not printing badges and envelopes, and we also drastically minimize our carbon footprint by not mailing badges to visitors from all 50 U.S. states and 85+ countries around the world. This is the first in a series of efforts to streamline the registration process and reduce waste.”
The e-badge effort follows a comprehensive data collection effort, at which time NYIGF also obtained permission to send materials to registrants via e-mail. Registrants who have not yet provided their e-mail addresses will receive a paper badge by mail.
Attendees can register online for an e-badge through August 10 at www.nyigf.com. NYIGF runs Saturday, August 14 through Thursday, August 19 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94 in New York City.
