New lighting and intelligent building show set to debut in Las Vegas in 2027

Messe Frankfurt Inc., the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Association of Lighting Designers announced plans in November 2025 to launch Light + Intelligent Building North America, a new tradeshow and conference focused on lighting, controls, and integrated building technologies. The event will debut March 15–18, 2027, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, according to a November 2025 press release from the organizations.

The event will debut March 15–18, 2027, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, according to a November 2025 press release from Messe Frankfurt Inc., the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Association of Lighting Designers.

The new event builds on the legacy of LightFair, which for decades served as a central marketplace and education platform for the North American lighting community. LightFair was traditionally held in late spring, most often in May, including its 2023 edition in New York City. Organizers emphasized that Light + Intelligent Building North America is not a rebrand of LightFair, but a new platform intended to reflect the expanding role of lighting within connected and intelligent buildings.

Messe Frankfurt, the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Association of Lighting Designers, which previously co-owned LightFair, will also co-own the new event. Organizers say this structure is intended to maintain continuity for the lighting community while broadening the show’s scope to include systems integration, controls, and building-level performance.

The exhibition floor will be organized into three primary zones: Lighting, Building Technology, and Accessories. In addition to exhibits, the event will feature a conference program offering CEU-eligible education. Planned topics include lighting design and installation, codes and standards, lighting for health and wellness, and building technology subjects such as integration, commissioning, cybersecurity, efficiency, and digital modeling.

Exhibitors are currently being invited to submit a nonbinding confirmation of intent to exhibit for the 2027 show. According to materials issued by organizers, formal exhibitor applications and floor plans will follow, with additional details on booth selection and pricing to be released at a later date. Attendee registration is expected to open in October 2026.
