The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the sixth largest convention center in the nation, has appointed a new sales manager.
In her new role, Mae Johnson is responsible for developing and servicing the Midwest market accounts for the Center.
Johnson brings solid experience to the position from a career that has spanned multiple sales and event coordination positions with Marriott International and East Jefferson General Hospital.
In her four and a half years as a sales manager with the Convention Center, Johnson generated new corporate business and serviced social, military, educational, religious and fraternal (SMERF) and Southeast association sales accounts. She was responsible for further developing the Convention Center’s pharmaceutical market, securing corporate programming ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 attendees.
A graduate of Louisiana State University, Johnson maintains an active presence in professional organizations including Gulf States Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), where she currently serves as director of regional affairs for Louisiana and will serve next year as the vice president of finance.
