Strong attendance and business dealings marked the 25th edition of SURTEX, which recently concluded at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
The only North American business-to-business marketplace dedicated to surface design for all product categories, SURTEX drew nearly 6,000 attendees, comprised of manufacturers, retailers, and other product developers from all product sectors.
According to Penny Sikalis, show manager, attendees were “very eager to do business.”
The SURTEX marketplace offered 277 exhibiting companies, showing work by more than 1,000 artists, designers, and properties from around the globe.
“Hailing from across the US, as well as around the world, attendees were more serious than ever about finding new art works and new partnerships with artists, designers, and agents,” Sikalis said.
The number of exhibitors increased by 23 percent this year, reflecting what Sikalis called renewed energy in the business of selling and licensing original art and design.
Special 25th Annniversary celebrations and announcements upped the show’s energy levels, said Sikalis, who accorded special honors to long-time SURTEX participants and announced new members of the show’s Advisory Council.
The next edition of SURTEX will take place May 20-22, 2012, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, with an anticipated 325 exhibitors and 6,000 attendees.
