On the Road to Recovery: beMatrix, SMT expo & LG

by H. K. Wilson

As 2020 is winding down, many of us are looking forward to 2021 with optimism, anticipating a fresh start and new opportunities. Entrepreneur, best-selling author and speaker Seth Godin says, “Optimism is the most important human trait because it allows us to evolve our ideas, to improve our situation and to hope for a better tomorrow.”

This week, we are featuring smart companies that have used the relative quiet of 2020 to evolve new ideas and products, positioning themselves and their customers for a prosperous 2021.

beMatrix asks: Where is your customer in 2021?

On Dec. 15, beMatrix is organizing a free online event that will answer this question and help you market your brand with confidence in the new year. The event’s all-star lineup of presenters includes Renson Marketing Manager Pieter Lecluyse; Purple Creative Strategist Jessica Endert; ABS Group Innovation Researcher Giorgio Grando; and IPME CEO and Founder Bill Hinchliff.

They will also answer other pressing questions on the minds of marketing professionals, including: “How do I spend my marketing budget?” “Does it makes sense to focus on local campaigns?” “How do I give my customer an unforgettable experience, even during a pandemic?”

The presentation will include an overview of the four real-world use cases and discuss the future of event marketing and ways you can optimize the online event experience.

SMT expo’s ExpoKnit System Blocks Transmission of Airborne Contaminants

SMT expo, the exclusive provider of the industry’s leading, full floorplan, fabric booth system and the sole manufacturer of a revolutionary tool-free system, has shifted its focus to safety amid these difficult times. According to SMT expo Founder and Executive Vice President Scott Lebwohl (pictured left), “It didn’t take long for us at SMT expo,  to realize that with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic practically everything about the logistics and processes that have become fundamental to the exhibition industry would have to be methodically reviewed and perhaps altered, in some cases radically, and in others, just incrementally. Before COVID-19 brought us to our knees, at SMT expo our principal criticism of pipe and drape revolved around two issues. First, after 100 years it should be replaced with a sleeker more contemporary and practical booth system. Second, the logistics of installing and dismantling tradeshow booths could be materially streamlined with a better designed system. Our ExpoKnit®️ system installs and dismantles substantially faster than pipe and drape. As a result, it saves both show organizers and exhibitors in labor costs while also reducing the potential chances for laborer’s exposure to COVID-19 on the in and out.”

SMT-expostandard-logoLebwohl continues, “With COVID-19, the top priority must be safety. We wondered, in a pandemic environment, how safe is pipe and drape’s Banjo fabric compared to our own ExpoKnit? To secure a credible answer we turned to an independent Swiss laboratory that tested the two fabrics side-by-side. The results astonished even us. The two fabrics occupy opposite ends of a broad safety spectrum; Banjo is among the most dangerous fabrics to use because it allows for unabated transmission of airborne agents while conversely ExpoKnit is essentially medical grade fabric that does an excellent job of preventing the spread of airflow while blocking transmission of airborne contaminants.

Lebwohl explains, “While our findings represent just a small slice of the new safety hurdles of the exhibition industry, all sectors of the industry must be fully and passionately committed to the same investigatory processes until we are all satisfied that the post-pandemic tradeshow floor is a safer place to do our business.”

A division of Glenmore Industries, an OEM manufacturer of a wide variety of home, industrial and automotive products, SMT expo LLC, is headquartered in Edison, N.J., and has manufacturing facilities and offices in China, Taiwan, Vietnam and the U.K. SMT stands for Smart Modular Technology and is the exclusive provider of the industry’s leading, full floorplan, fabric booth system and the sole manufacturer of a revolutionary tool-free system.
