Owensboro Convention Center expands team

Spectra Venue Management, operator of the Owensboro Convention Center, promoted some of its current staff and welcomed new members to the Owensboro team.

Leading the kitchen is Executive Chef Stephen Helm. Chef Helm learned at any early age that quality food is an essential ingredient to good living. He has served as an executive chef at Peter’s Bay in Columbus, Ind., the Owensboro Country Club, and Canteen Food Service. With over 20 years of back-of-the-house experience, Helm is eager to continue his culinary career for the Owensboro community.

Jamie Scheffer has been promoted to the director of finance. He obtained his MBA from Murray State University, and for over a year, he served as the staff accountant at the Owensboro Convention Center.

“It’s always great to be able to invest in the growth and development of your employees,” said Dead Dennis, general manager/vice president, Spectra. Jamie is excited to get more involved with the community and to help each team member grow to their full potential.

Kate Douglas has been promoted to event manager. For over a year, Douglas was an event supervisor with the Owensboro Convention Center. She will now oversee the in-house events, including Kraftucky, Cork & Cuisine, Your Perfect Day and more. She is looking forward to the many opportunities in her new role.

Angie Hanley joins the Owensboro Convention Center as an event supervisor after 17 years with the City of Owensboro. She has also served as the secretary for St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter. Hanley is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree with an emphasis in Business.

Rhett Jones joins the Owensboro Convention Center as an event supervisor. A recent graduate from Kansas State University, he studied Hospitality Management: Event Planning and Management. During his time there, he was involved in a multitude of various student organizations that allowed him to gain valuable experience. Jones is excited to start his post-grad career with the Owensboro Convention Center.

Jeanette Goins joins the Owensboro Convention Center as the marketing and public relations manager. Most recently the sales and marketing manager with the Ford Center and Victory Theatre in Evansville, Ind., she brings several years of marketing and media experience to the team. Goins is thrilled for the opportunity to showcase all that the Owensboro Convention Center has to offer.
