PCMA Hires Marco Bloemendaal as Global VP, Business Development

PCMA has named Marco Bloemendaal as global vice president of business development. He will join the organization on Dec. 2 and report to Chief Business Officer Mona Cotton.

“Marco’s experience and knowledge within the DMO, hotel and business event communities will bring tremendous value to PCMA’s brand and help elevate the connections and business value we bring our global clients and communities,” says Cotton. “He strengthens our leadership team as we continue our mission of demonstrating how business events drive global economic and social transformation.”

Bloemendaal will lead PCMA’s Business Development and Account Management teams and oversee the organization’s efforts to provide valuable business and marketing solutions for its global clients and markets. He will also work closely with PCMA’s valued partners.

“I could not be more excited to join PCMA and be part of a community that demonstrates how business events drive global economic and social transformation,” says Bloemendaal. “I’ve spent the past 16 years representing destinations at the CVB/DMO level so I know the importance of not just the economics of business events, but also the social economics for destinations.”

He joins PCMA from VISIT Milwaukee, where he was senior vice president of sales. His previous experience includes senior sales responsibilities at VISIT Seattle, Experience Columbus and the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

A native of the Netherlands, he spent eight years in both hotel operations and sales in Amsterdam, including two years as director of international sales, North America for more than 60 hotel properties in Europe, where his major accounts were in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta.

PCMA believes that business events can economically and socially transform communities, enterprises and individuals.
