BizBash, a premier resource for event and meeting professionals in North America, has announced the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows (IMS), the industry leader for connecting Powersports’ top brands with enthusiasts and buyers, has been recognized on its annual list of Top 100 Events in New York. These annual experiences have continued to break barriers, challenge the norm, push limits to reach and engage audiences in a thoughtful way.
The IMS tour offers two-wheel enthusiasts an all-access pass to the world of motorcycling. Launched in 1982, the tour showcases hundreds of the latest street bikes, dirt bikes, cruisers, scooters and ATVs for new and experienced riders, and gives fans of all ages the opportunity to check out the latest gear and aftermarket accessories, as well as hours of entertainment.
“The IMS tour is the only national show that allows new and experienced riders to explore the dynamic world of motorcycling, and the New York market has played a fundamental role in building the show from its infancy into what it is today,” says Tracy Harris, senior VP of Powersports, UBM. “We are extremely proud to host an event that welcomes consumers of all kind, from experts to new riders, looking to immerse themselves in the motorcycle industry.”
New in 2019 is the “Discover the Ride Initiative” which invites new and experienced riders, from toddlers to adults, to enjoy five interactive riding zones including the New Rider Course in partnership with Zero Motorcycles. The New Rider Course gives non-licensed attendees the opportunity to ride a motorcycle for the first time and learn riding basics from expert instructors. The indoor demo course hosts a fleet of speed-limited electric Zero Motorcycles to give participants the experience of riding a motorcycle in a safe and controlled environment. Zero Motorcycles have no transmission, feature an anti-lock brake sensor (ABS) and is zero emission, all which make the indoor experience on one of the most advanced motorcycles in the world a possibility. Instructors from Total Control Training are also on hand at each show to give instruction and guidance. The gear is provided by Cycle Gear, Shark Helmets, HJC and Shoei.
Beth Kormanik, BizBash editor-in-chief, adds, “One of the trends we’re seeing with events is a desire to emphasize social good. ‘Are the panels at conferences and conventions diverse? How are music festivals taking care of the environment? What form does corporate social responsibility take at a trade show?’ Attendees are asking, and the best events are responding.”
