Recognizing Award Winning Results ceremony, or the rAWr Awards, caught the attention of business events players and business visitors from all around the world on Sept. 18.
Organized by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and the Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MACEOS), the ceremony aimed to recognize excellence, leadership, professional standards, innovation and best practices in MICE industries.
Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the ceremony attracted big names in the industry, such as Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz, the minister of tourism and culture.
“Our success as a global business events destination will be determined by how we constantly innovate to improve our product offering,” said Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri. “For this reason, I applaud the rAWr Awards initiated by MyCEB and MACEOS. Initiatives such as this are to be encouraged and promoted if Malaysia is to lift its stature and competitiveness in a fiercely thriving environment.”
rAWr, or “ROAR”, is associated with the growing voice and recognition of the business events sector as a key contributor to the Malaysian economy. Consisting of over 20 categories, four main awards were given out for: Best International Conference, Best Trade Exhibition, Best Incentive Programme, Best Environmental Initiative Award and Best Event.
“We trust that through the rAWr Awards, winners will have the opportunity to leverage from their industry recognition in their own sales and marketing efforts,” said Jonathan Kan, president, MACEOS. “Business events visitors will also have the confidence in the developments of Malaysia. As a result, we hope that the business events industry will flourish.”
Eighty-five entries were submitted by industry players for the 2013 rAWr Awards. Both MyCEB and MACEOS are looking forward to organizing the next annual rAWr Awards ceremony.
