The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the premier global trade association of the shopping center industry, announced that RECon 2015, held May 17-20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, experienced record post-recession levels.
The world’s largest convention for the retail real estate industry garnered more than 36,000 attendees.
“The number of people flocking to this year’s RECon not only testifies to the growth of the global economy, but also speaks to the health and robustness of the shopping center model,” stated Michael P. Kercheval, president and CEO, ICSC. “Landlords and retailers are voting with their money on the future of the shopping center.”
Show organizer ICSC had to break down a wall to accommodate guests attending the Executive Women in Retail Real Estate panel. Another major highlight was the Envision 2020 Town Hall: Redefining Our Industry panel, which offered unique insights and an authority-backed roadmap about where the industry is headed. The popular session identified eight major trends that will affect the shopping center industry over the next five years with Keynote speaker Peyton Manning received by a standing room only auditorium.
The debut of RECon Live bolstered ICSC’s digital presence with interviews of top executives from the show floor. Additionally, the Talent Development Pavilion reached new heights – providing over 700 student visitors deal making opportunities in the form of internships, networking and professional development.
