The MOU was endorsed following the success of high-level talks between Wang Lie, vice chairman of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai (CPIT Shanghai) and Nat Wong, president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China.
As part of the agreement Reed and CPIT Shanghai will establish mechanisms through which critical experience and information are disseminated, long-term projects are investigated and opinions on key industry matters are shared. Both Reed and CPIT Shanghai have extensive talent, knowledge and technical resources at their disposal – the combination of which is sure to produce lasting win-win benefits.
“We’re currently witnessing unprecedented dynamism in the local exhibition market, coupled with rising expectations from our participants,” said Wong. “To ensure that Reed can embrace the challenges of operating in an intensely competitive industry, we need to forge strategic relationships with partners who share the same values, ambition and dedication to quality as we do.”
The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai Sub-Council (CCPIT) was founded in 1956. In August 2002, the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government approved the new name of Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai. CPIT Shanghai is a quasi-governmental, foreign trade-promotion organization. It also provides guidance and coordination for local districts, as well as for county trade-promotion organizations in Shanghai.
“CPIT Shanghai’s strength is in promoting trade, investment and cooperation as well as in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Shanghai and other parts of the world,” said Wang. “Our vision fits squarely with Reed’s as we both strive to become industry leaders, by delivering excellent events that are current and comprehensive. I’m delighted that we’re taking this important step and I look forward to working together to develop new ways for CPIT to extend its international reach with and through Reed.”
