Combining the expertise and talents of two of China’s largest organizers of exhibitions, a new “mega-expo” gift tradeshow is slated this August in Shanghai.
On May 26, following a signing ceremony held at Beijing Earls Golf Club, officials for the Reed Huaqun Exhibitions Co. and ShanghaiMart reached an agreement to develop the Shanghai International Gift & Home Trade Fair, formerly produced by ShanghaiMart, into the Shanghai International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition, organized by Reed Huaqun.
“This event marks the successful combination of the best elements of two big players: Reed Huaqun and ShanghaiMart,” said Nat Wong, president, Reed Exhibitions Greater China. “We’ve disassembled the competition model to create better business growth and a far bigger and more synergistic event. Additionally, we are proud to confirm the China Gift Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the past ShanghaiMart organized Gift & Home Trade Fair, will stay on to support the new exhibition through invitations to its extensive exhibitor database, powering key promotional activities and helping with general event coordination.”
The newly combined mega-expo is scheduled to take place at ShanghaiMart from Aug. 28 to Aug. 30.
The show expansion is in keeping with Reed Exhibitions’ strategy of achieving growth through a combination of collaborations and launching new shows. Having finalized many acquisitions in the past five years, the Shanghai International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition is the first in a string of new Reed initiatives scheduled this year.
The new event is a blend of the best elements of two shows producing broader market reach into the East China market and deeper penetration into supply-and-demand needs with a high-value gift tradeshow. The Chinese gift market continues to boom with the Spring Festival accounting for the bulk of the market. And the new Shanghai International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition will be a powerful complement to Huaqun’s Gift & Home cluster of events, giving Reed complete coverage in the gift sector in North China (Beijing), South China (Shenzhen) and West China (Chengdu).
“The merger of gift shows from Reed Huaqun and ShanghaiMart will deliver fantastic win-win results by combining both parties’ strongest advantages. It will reconfigure the competition landscape in Shanghai and create new opportunities for our participants,” said Wong. “We are delighted to be so well-placed to deliver a compelling market-leading exhibition this August. Shanghai international Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition will definitely be a winner for the gift industry, Reed Huaqun and ShanghaiMart.”
Formed in 2009, Reed Huaqun Exhibitions, known as “Reed Huaqun,” is a joint venture between Reed Huabo Exhibitions and Beijing Qunxue Expo. ShanghaiMart is made up of the International Permanent Expo Center, Shanghai World Trade Exhibition Center and the Shanghai World Trade Tower, combining exhibition, trade, office and communications in a single compound with world-class facilities for exhibitors as well as local and international buyers. ShanghaiMart is one of Shanghai’s top-five expo facilities.
