In celebration of Earth Day, RETHINK WORLDWIDE will hold its inaugural “Rethink Earth Week,” from April 22-26 in Las Vegas. Presented by MyVegas Magazine this year, the week began with an opening reception on April 22, and will end with a closing celebration on April 26. 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Bandito Latin Kitchen & Cantina in the Hughes Center. Guests are welcome to donate, participate in opportunity gift drawings and enjoy a special presentation. During Earth Week this year, volunteers will hand out information cards about minimizing single-use plastic, educate business owners about the importance of sustainability, and collect plastic bottles on East & West Flamingo Rd, West Spring Mountain Rd and Maryland Pkwy.
Li Jackson, executive director of RETHINK WORLDWIDE, explains, “Our #1 initiative is to minimize single-use plastic. One person can make a difference. Together, we can make an impact in our community,” adding that “Rethink Earth Week is a public event that is intended to bring together Las Vegas media, executives, community leaders, students, sustainability advocates and organizations to show how much we care about the environment by taking action to live sustainably.” Their goal is to teach everyone the health hazards of single-use plastic, useful and innovative recycling practices, and options to help live a more sustainable, healthy life.
