Emerald Expositions, one of the trade show industry’s largest show management firms, has announced the acquisition of RFID Journal LIVE!, a show that focuses on radio frequency identification (RFID) and related technologies. The show was founded by RFID Journal, LLC, 15 years ago to meet the demands of the burgeoning RFID market which has now grown to be valued at an estimated $10 billion in 2016.
The event draws several thousand people and 200 exhibitors from 60 countries, and it offers attendees more than 100 educational sessions aimed at keeping them abreast of the evolving industry. In addition to RFID Journal LIVE!, Emerald Expositions acquired several corresponding events including a similarly titled one in Europe.
RFID Journal founded and CEO Mark Roberti will be joining Emerald Expositions as part of the deal, as will several members of his staff. “RFID technology is increasingly used to track and identify objects, particularly in automotive, aerospace, defense, pharma, farming and retail markets,” Roberti said. “I am excited that with Emerald’s scale and events expertise behind us we will be able to expand the RFID Journal LIVE! events to meet the growing needs of the RFID industry worldwide.”
