Robert Laarhoven Departing beMatrix

beMatrix® Thanks Laarhoven for His Many Contributions

After nine years leading beMatrix USA, Robert Laarhoven is leaving to launch his own consulting firm. “I’ve loved every minute of building this great organization, but I’m happy to be entering this new chapter in my life,” says Laarhoven.

Starting July 1, Laarhoven will be launching his own consulting firm and will support beMatrix in that capacity. beMatrix will continue under the leadership of Tara Ericson, who was named CEO of beMatrix USA in June of 2020.

beMatrix USA, is the designer and manufacturer of a modular frame system for the exhibit builder, general contractor, event producer, production Tara-Ericon-beMatrixhouse, retail builder and beyond.

Laarhoven served as president of beMatrix from 2012-2020. During that time he helped change the way exhibits are built in North America. Laarhoven grew beMatrix® to one of the most used—and most recognized—modular frame systems in the U.S.

“Robert will be a force in our industry for years to come. His influence will continue to be felt at beMatrix and beyond,” says Ericson (pictured right).

Robert Laarhoven Hazel Hays AwardbeMatrix is just one chapter in Laarhoven’s storied career. He has worked in the exhibit industry and acted as an evangelist for modular exhibit properties for more than 35 years. He founded Laarhoven Design in 1984 and was a major force in the creation of the Experiential Designers and Producers Association’s custom modular division in the 1990s.

In 1998, Laarhoven became the first EDPA president to come from a systems manufacturer. He was also a founding member of the EDPA Foundation. His contributions were honored with an EDPA Ambassador Award and in 2019 EDPA honored Laarhoven with its highest honor—the Hazel Hayes Award (pictured left).

“We wish Robert great success on his new venture,” says Ericson. “He will always be a ‘beManiac’ and exceptional leader in this industry.”
