The San Diego Convention Center first opened its doors on Nov.24, 1989. To celebrate this milestone, the San Diego Convention Center Corporation is hosting a celebratory luncheon on Nov. 7 in Ballroom 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 pm.
The event will serve as a community fundraiser to benefit the Downtown San Diego Partnership’s “Make Change Count” program, which provides assistance to the homeless population in downtown San Diego.

For 25 years, the San Diego Convention Center has been reducing the burden on local taxpayers by generating hotel room and sales tax revenues, which are used to fund necessary services like police, fire, street maintenance, parks and libraries.
