Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the leading international event on cities and smart urban solutions organized by Fira de Barcelona will hold its biggest edition to date in 2024. Under the theme “Live Better” the show and congress will experience a 30% growth of the exhibition floorspace from the record-setting 2023 event. The summit held every year in Barcelona expects to host 1.100 exhibitors, 850 cities and over 25.000 attendees from November 5-7 and will spread over halls 2 and 3 of Fira’s Gran Via venue.
The event will focus on strategies to transform current metropolises into more sustainable, efficient, and livable spaces bringing together leading companies from around the world to showcase the latest solutions and technologies enabling cities to become more efficient in areas such as mobility, public services, utilities, citizen engagement and sustainability.
Along these lines, SCEWC will gather over 600 speakers and international experts in its congress to share the latest experiences and breakthroughs in urban transformation in a conference program structured around eight main tracks: Enabling Technologies, Energy & Environment, Mobility, Governance, Living & Inclusion, Economy, Infrastructure & Buildings, and Safety & Security.
The event’s director, Ugo Valenti, said that “In the upcoming edition we aim to set a common target for urban innovation worldwide: improve welfare, create opportunities, and foster a better relationship with our planet and communities. If we want to live better we must rethink our way of life, leveraging technology, innovation, and collaboration. Industry leaders, government officials, researchers, and entrepreneurs will get together at Smart City Expo World Congress to address the complex issues lying at the heart of a new city model.”
Global Hub of Innovation
In 2024, SCEWC will delve deeper into the potential of new technologies and the role that start-ups have in their developing process. To achieve this goal, the event will debut the Innovation Playground, a space to connect the main players of the global innovation ecosystem including startups, investors, governments, corporations, and research centers. In addition, SCEWC will also hold the third edition of the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, an event organized by Barcelona Activa focused on scientific tech entrepreneurship and university spin-offs.
To round off and unmatchable combination of events, the Gran Via venue will also host the third Tomorrow.Mobility, the event jointly organized by Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility aimed at developing a new and sustainable urban mobility paradigm; the second editions of Tomorrow Building, focused on innovative construction, and Tomorrow.Blue Economy, aimed at using the full potential of ocean resources for a sustainable economic growth.
