To meet the needs of event organizers, The Lensbury, a four-star venue on the banks of the River Thames, will detail its million-dollar facility transformation at The Meetings Show UK – a new event for the United Kingdom meetings industry, from July 9-11 in London.
In suburban Teddington, in southwest London, the venue’s conference center was refurbished, executive bedrooms were added and its main function room – The Thames View Suite – underwent a £1.2 million (more than USD $ 1.8 million) transformation.
“Our recent refurbishment has led to a significant increase in conference bookings and potential new business,” said Maugie Lyons, director of marketing and sales, The Lensbury. “We have 171 en-suite bedrooms to meet event organizers’ needs for overnight accommodation as well as leisure facilities. We cater to private dining and parties and have an in-house florist.”
The Thames View Suite provides space for meetings, private parties and other functions. The décor features contemporary styling and floor-to-ceiling windows, opening onto a sundeck to views of a landscaped pond and gardens.
“We are continually looking for ways to meet clients’ needs. This includes enhanced team-building packages with organizations taking advantage of dragon boating and raft building,” said Lyons. “The staff also offers lessons in sailing and kayaking. It’s a great way to get a team away from the office and build confidence.”
Other transformations in the works at The Lensbury’s include a new rugby pitch, for the fall season and Rugby World Cup in 2015, and an outside swimming pool and members club room as part of the health and fitness center.
The meeting and conference facilities at The Lensbury include 31 meeting rooms for up to 250 people. Meetings professionals have access to natural daylight, audio-visual equipment and free Wi-Fi. A team of on-site technicians can assist meeting and conference organizers with their AV requirements.
