Theo Harris Joins Creative Energy Agency

Creative Energy, a marketing and advertising agency based in Johnson City, Tenn., recently announced the hiring of Theo Harris as a senior copywriter. Harris has worked with small and large agencies on the West Coast and in the Midwest developing compelling messaging for clients in a wide range of industries—from food to outdoor products. He will be moving from Wisconsin to join the East Tennessee team in the coming months.

A graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Advertising Communications, Harris has always enjoyed the process of crafting strong storytelling for his clients.  “I have always enjoyed the process of writing and developing a voice that engages a given audience,” explains Harris. “When I was in college, I began to look at all the opportunities that were available in the advertising and marketing industry and started considering a career path in those areas.  I fell in love with the process through an advertising class I was taking and quickly knew this was what I wanted to do.”

Living in Layton, Utah, Harris first worked as a junior copywriter for a small and nimble agency called Faktory, Inc. After deciding that he wanted to move closer to his family, he took a position as a copywriter in Wisconsin—first with Kohler Co. and then with an independent agency called Shine United. Over the last six years, he has had the opportunity to work with a variety of notable clients including Arby’s, Sam Adams, Kohler, SureFire, Descente, Moon Cheese and the Utah Jazz.

Harris was approached about a possible position with Creative Energy in late 2020 and met with key members of the creative team. Harris says, “I remember being very impressed with the quality of work that the Creative Energy team was producing.  I was happy to meet the creative leadership and experience how welcoming and generous they were with their internal team and with me. As a lover of the outdoors and wilderness adventure, I was also intrigued that Creative Energy highlights the outdoor lifestyle as a huge part of their agency culture.  I’d never heard, or seen, an agency leverage their area’s natural resources as much as Creative Energy does. It’s very exciting to me!”

Harris will be working closely within the Creative Energy agency to develop new messaging and strategies for their many clients.  He is looking forward to helping the agency grow and develop more young advertising professionals with an interest in copywriting.  He will be joined by his wife, Will Griffith Creative Agency Rebekah, and their children.

“We’re very excited to have Theo join our creative team,” says Will Griffith (pictured left), VP of creative services at Creative Energy. “The time we’ve spent getting to know one another has given me a lot of confidence and respect for the wealth of knowledge he will be contributing to the quality of work we produce for our clients.”
