Tourism has been called the first date of economic development. Meyer developed and utilized the Prosperity Triangle when he was VP of Sales for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Meyer successfully leveraged the synergy between the DMO and the other two sides of the triangle for a more significant impact on the economic success of Las Vegas. This model included prosperous partnerships cultivated through the LVCVA’s designated appointment as the World Trade Center Las Vegas and further collaboration with the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Meyer was then able to scale down this process for smaller destinations.
During Meyer’s time at the LVCVA, Las Vegas experienced record-breaking visitation with numbers exceeding 42 million guests in a single year, including nearly seven million business travelers attending more than 24,000 meetings and conventions. Meyer’s efforts were essential in securing Las Vegas’ title as the nation’s top tradeshow destination for a record 25 years, as awarded by the Trade Show News Network. Meyer was actively engaged in growing the number of international visitors to the region, particularly as meetings and conventions became increasingly global in scope. Accordingly, Meyer led the oversight of airline development for Las Vegas during one of the most prosperous years in the destination’s history, welcoming more than 50 million passengers for the first time.
The synergy between the three sides of the prosperity triangle can raise the community’s profile and open the door to enhanced opportunities for traditional business expansion, relocation and new start-ups.
