City Electric Supply Opens New Location in Texas

by Emily Davis

CES Saves Customers an Hour of Driving Time

Houston has seen a population increase by 2.29% since the most recent census. Electrical wholesale distributor City Electric Supply (CES) is here to service the economic development south Houston is seeing. The company already has 18 locations in Houston and recently opened another branch in the southern part of the city. This CES branch is placed just south of Interstate 610 in a perfect location for those who work on either side of the city.

“This location came together at the perfect time for our existing and new customers,” says  District Manager Daren Thode. “Several of our team members were also thrilled about working out of this new location. The pieces have come together well so that this CES South Houston branch can best serve everyone.”

Renovations Completed

For five months, the CES Houston South team worked hard to get the renovations completed, which includes the racking in the showroom, getting inventory, and putting products on the shelves. “In the heart of Downtown Houston, it takes a bit of time to ensure we get things completed in the proper order,” says Daren. “We are thrilled everything came together the way it did, and we are excited to have this location open.”

CES Houston South Branch Manager Matthew Dunn has been with CES for over a decade, starting as a driver with the company. From contacting people on job sites to loading trucks, his extensive experience in the industry has been through different roles he’s held within CES.

“I started as a driver for CES in 2011, and the only experience I had with electrical work was helping my dad with a building project once. I have been able to learn so much at the different positions I’ve been able to hold with CES,” said Matthew. “I am fortunate to have amazing mentors here, and I am excited to be that for someone else here in South Houston.”

Excited to have This Team

Over the 11 years Matthew has been with the company, he has held positions in four different CES locations across the Houston area. From starting as a driver to counter sales, outside sales, and operations manager, Matthew and his team have seen and done a bit of everything.

“My operations manager came from another CES location and has several years of experience with us,” says Matthew. “Our counter salesman is new to the industry but is learning fast. Our driver has an extensive background in working in oil fields and is helpful with all aspects of the business. I am excited to have this team here at CES.”

We Exceed Their Expectations

How did Matthew find CES over 10 years ago? He learned about the company through his childhood neighbor, a district manager for CES at the time. The two had a conversation about Matthew wanting stability in a job and his search for a company that he could continue to grow in.

He continues, “Well, you know, I probably can get you a gig as the driver for one of my locations. It’s entry-level, but it’s a good, solid job,” says Matthew. “I jumped at the opportunity and haven’t looked back since. I feel privileged to open and grow this CES location.” The Houston South team is thrilled to be here and most importantly, to serve their customers. “Our number one priority here is taking care of our customers,” says Matthew. “Making sure that we exceed their expectations. That’s important for our team.”
