UBM plc, a London-based multinational media company, appointed a non-executive director to its board of directors. This appointee also became a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committees on Aug. 1.
A U.S. national, Mary McDowell has experience running both enterprise and consumer divisions in multinational companies in the technology industry. From 2004 to 2012, she worked at Nokia, the global telecommunications and mobile phone producer. Her last position as executive vice president placed her in charge of Nokia’s Mobile Phones unit.
“I am delighted to welcome Mary to UBM. Her marketing background, including in emerging markets, will be enormously valuable, and I look forward to working with her,” said Dame Helen Alexander, chair, UBM plc.
McDowell is independent director and chair of the Compensation / HR Committee at Autodesk, a U.S.-based multi-national corporation that develops software for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media and entertainment industries.
Before joining Nokia, she served 17 years at HP-Compaq after joining as a systems engineer in 1986.
