Vancouver CC Welcomes Don Marcellus

The Vancouver Convention Centre is pleased to welcome Don Marcellus as its new director of facilities management following an extensive recruitment search across North America.

Marcellus joins the Convention Centre with 15 years of leadership experience in facilities operations and maintenance, as well as an extensive technical background as a professional engineer.

“We are thrilled to have Don join our organization and lead our facilities management team,” says Craig Lehto, general manager, Vancouver Convention Centre. “Now more than ever, it is vital that we strengthen the capabilities of our two buildings as we work to support the safe return of clients and guests. With Don’s leadership and considerable expertise, we will be able to further our organization’s ability to innovate and operate sustainably during this unprecedented time for our industry.”

Most recently, Marcellus worked at BC Ferries overseeing and directing the efforts of the Tsawwassen Terminal Maintenance group, supporting operations in Delta, Richmond and on Galiano Island.

“I am excited to be a part of the Vancouver Convention Centre team, and look forward to contributing to the innovation and excellence that the facility is recognized for globally,” says Marcellus.

After extensive consultation with health authorities and other partners, the Convention Centre has implemented a comprehensive safety plan to help inform current and future business activity held at the facility. Recently the facility also earned the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation for outbreak prevention, response and recovery, further strengthening its commitment to the health and safety of its staff, clients and guests.

Located on Vancouver’s downtown waterfront with a dramatic mountain backdrop, the world’s first double LEED® Platinum certified convention centre offers one of the most beautiful settings in the world. The award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre features two connected buildings with a combined total of 466,500 ft2 (43,340 m2) of flexible meeting, exhibition, ballroom and plenary space. The facility is committed to environmental sustainability as well as unparalleled service, technology offerings and culinary excellence. The Vancouver Convention Centre is a part of BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), a Provincial Crown Corporation of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.
