Visit Jacksonville, the marketing organization assisting in the growth of business and leisure tourism in Northeast Florida, has hired a tourism veteran to join the team.
Dennis Tracy, who will serve in the newly created role of senior vice president of destination sales and marketing, will lead the efforts to sell and market the city as a meetings and convention destination.
Tracy, a 30-year industry professional, will manage the daily operations and activities of the sales department, overseeing the expansion of the city’s efforts in securing citywide convention business and championing the growth of the association, corporate, medical, multicultural, and sports market. He will also serve as a consistent presence at tradeshows and client events for face-to-face business dealings with planners to book conventions and meetings for Jacksonville.
“With a stronger emphasis on the group sales effort and increased discussion for the rationale behind a new convention center, the experience Dennis brings to Visit Jacksonville will be a true asset for our destination’s tourism industry,” said Daniel O’Byrne, president of Visit Jacksonville. “I have the utmost confidence that under his leadership, we can expect great things from the sales team, and will continue to see positive growth and a greater booking conversion for the meetings and conventions market in Jacksonville.”
Tracy comes to Visit Jacksonville from the Little Rock (Ark.) Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he served as the director of sales and marketing for four years. Prior to 2007, he also worked as national accounts manager and then acting director of sales at the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau, director of sales for the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal and director of sales at the Westin Hotel Cincinnati
