Visit Phoenix, a promoter of the Greater Phoenix area and its convention center, boosted its sales efforts with the recent reorganization of its sales staff.
Promoted up the ranks, Julie Nicolazzi, CMP, went from national sales manager to director for national accounts. In her new role, she will promote downtown and the Phoenix Convention Center to larger convention customers in select Midwestern states along with a targeted focus in Colorado.
After joining Visit Phoenix in summer 2011, Nicolazzi quickly assimilated into her role and consistently demonstrated professionalism and passion to succeed. Additionally, she will bring a renewed focus on soliciting the religious and fraternal market segment in an effort to fortify and stabilize our value periods downtown.
After a successful year of handling small meetings in the Midwest, Maria Lane was also promoted, replacing Nicolazzi as national sales manager. Lane’s key duties include bringing citywide business opportunities to the Phoenix Convention Center as well as managing team sports sales efforts. Her elevated role involves a more strategic approach canvassing the Midwest and identifying large meeting profiles (>126 peak rooms) that are suited for Phoenix’s resort collection.
Also promoted was AJ Altaras, who becomes the national convention sales manager. She now handles the mid-Atlantic citywide market of 1,001 rooms or more on peak. She was instrumental in executing Visit Phoenix’s recent Resort BET (Buyer Educational Tour), Chicago Sales Mission, Super Bowl planning and various key initiatives this past year.
