World’s First “Carwash for Smartphones” to be on Display at CES

opticwashOpticwash to Unveil Automated Smartphone Cleaning Kiosk at CES Las Vegas

Whether it’s shaking someone’s hand, handling money, pushing a shopping cart, or using the restroom, our hands – every single day – are constantly exposed to millions of harmful bacteria.

And of course, those same hands typically touch our cell phones before we have a chance to wash them. In fact, the average consumer touches his or her phone an average of 2,617 times each day. Even if you have a chance to wash your hands or sanitize a surface before transferring it to your cell phone, there has never been a convenient way to quickly clean your phone without scratching it … until now.

Opticwash, a Florida-based kiosk technology company, has developed the world’s first fully-automated self-serve kiosk that cleans and removes 99 percent of bacteria on your eyewear, jewelry, watches, and now, cell phones. Using state-of-the-art sensor technology, the kiosk effectively detects, completely cleans and dries them in under two minutes.

Opticwash will unveil their new cell phone cleansing kiosk at CES in Las Vegas, January 5-8, 2017 from Tech East in South Hall 4, Booth #35968 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The company will also showcase their product at ShowStoppers @ CES 2017 on January 5, from 6-10pm in the Lafite Ballroom in the Wynn Hotel.

“The product is extremely easy to use and can be placed literally anywhere; malls, offices, hotels, airports etc.,” said Opticwash Co-Founder Bryan Myers. “Cell phones are one of the dirtiest things our hands can touch. In fact, phones are around 18 times as dirty as a public restroom toilet handle … and you wouldn’t put your face near that would you?”

When Opticwash was founded, it was initially designed to clean eyeglasses, sunglasses and jewelry.  “In our latest iteration though, we have crafted a way to clean – thoroughly clean – cell phones while protecting the unit from water damage,” Myers said.  “The product is now operational in five Florida shopping malls, two vacation resorts, several Eye Centers throughout the United States, and New York’s JFK Airport, with San Jose Airport just around the corner; but now we finally have our finished product and are ready to expand. Thanks to the new Opticwash, people will be able to easily and effectively disinfect their phone in a matter of minutes.”
