Young professionals chosen for second leadership academy

ASAE (the American Society of Association Executives) and The Center for Association Leadership selected 25 students in December for the second class of its Leadership Academy, a program that focuses on preparing young professionals for executive positions in the association and nonprofit industry. The academy aims to develop young professionals into leaders and prepare them to serve their organizations in the changing work environment to proactively address 21st century workforce issues.

“The future of the association community lies in young professionals, who are continuing to advance through the ranks of management and lead organizations in the association and nonprofit community,” said John H. Graham IV, CAE, ASAE and The Center president and CEO. “Now is the time to prepare young professionals and cultivate their talents.”

Supported in part by a grant from American Express, the academy will involve interactive learning methods, including online education and web-based discussions facilitated by CenterU, ASAE and The Center’s online education provider. The students will have an opportunity to interact with fellow participants online as well as face-to-face meetings during key events, like the Great Ideas Conference, Future Leaders Conference and Annual Meeting and Exposition.

As part of ASAE and The Center’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, students were selected in a blind review process from a broad pool of applicants representing local, regional and national organizations from across the country. Students embody diverse demographics and affiliations.
