Major RV show expands at German fairgrounds

Attendees can look forward to an even larger product range at this year’s CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF, the world’s largest trade fair for mobile homes and RVs.

Occupying halls nine to 17, including five and 7.0, at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany, CARAVAN SALON 2014 takes place from Aug. 30 – Sept. 7.

“In recent years, the exhibiting companies have asked us to adapt the hall structure according to the increased demand. Messe Düsseldorf as the organizer, and the German Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) as the conceptual sponsor are now complying with this request,” explained Stefan Koschke, director, CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF.

Providing a trade visitor day on Aug. 29, the event also features 580 exhibitors showing mobile homes and RVs in all price categories, basic vehicles, accessories and extension elements as well as tents, camping sites and mobile home parking facilities along with travel destinations.

CARAVAN SALON will present around 1,900 leisure vehicles in all sizes and variations with many different layouts and individually arranged interiors; in Düsseldorf, everything that the market has to offer will be on show. Tried-and-tested layouts and classic vehicles will be on display, which are just as popular as the new models and production series for the coming season. In Düsseldorf, the manufacturers of 130 RV and mobile home brands will present a large range of world innovations and new products. A particular focus this year will be on chassis manufacturers. The new basic vehicles impress through further developments in terms of optical, functional and technical perfection.

New products are expected in the compact mobile home sector. Whether it is for two or four people, the box-type and semi-integrated camper vehicle categories have been registering enormous growth for several years. With clever solutions, the manufacturers are now working especially on overcoming the lack of space due to compact vehicle dimensions. An increasing number of larger mobile homes are adhering to the 3.5 tons limit without economizing on comfort, offering a high degree of agility in road traffic and are thus also suitable for everyday use. Fuel-saving innovations, lightweight design and compact dimensions also continue to play an important role.

The smallest and simplest RV for two people will be available at CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2014 starting at around Euro 7.000. For larger budgets, the trade fair will have compact vans and camping busses while families will appreciate the large selection of family RVs and alcove mobile homes. The options among the luxury mobile homes, which are individually produced to customer specifications, are almost limitless. The RV sector also continues with its efforts in becoming even more environmentally friendly. Modern components ensure savings in the vehicles’ energy consumption and reduce emissions.

In addition to an information stand, the German Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) will be represented once again with a special show. With the title “Golden October,” it will include several experience and activity stations with the opportunity to wins prices.

Many RV enthusiasts enjoy spending their leisure time by, on and in the water. This year, CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF will present possibilities for combining RVing and water sports. At the specially set up water landscape, visitors can try out canoes, kayaks and Canadian canoes.

An informative ancillary program, consisting of the Dream Tours cinema showing unique travel destinations, the Adventure Camp organized by the Dusseldorf Sports Clubs Federation and the vintage car exhibition, will complement the exhibits.

Many of the RV fans will travel to the event in their own vehicles, with about 60,000 attendees spending the night in their RVs or mobile homes at the Caravan Center offering more than 3,500 serviced and non-serviced parking spaces.

As in the past, the hiking and trekking trade fair TourNatur will again be held parallel with CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF from Sept. 5 – 7. Hiking enthusiasts will get up-to-date information on the most beautiful hiking destinations and the latest hiking and trekking equipment in two halls. A total of 275 exhibitors will present about 5,000 travel destinations while independent hiking experts will offer tips for planning tours. Only one entrance pass is necessary to visit both CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF and TourNatur.
