On Friday, May 27, a tentative agreement on a new labor contract between convention industry general contractors (GC) and the leadership of Teamsters Local Union 631 was reached.
The new contract will be a three-year agreement between Freeman, Global Experience Specialists (GES) and Local 631.
As with previous agreements, other GCs who wish to sign “me too” contracts with the Local may also do so.
The current, four-year agreement between the union and the GCs is set to expire at midnight on May 31.
News of the agreement was confirmed by a representative from GES.
“The membership is expected to vote on the contract in early June,” said the representative. “Because of the tentative agreement with the Local’s leadership, we will operate under the current agreement until a new contract is ratified.”
If membership votes to adopt the new agreement, the contract will be retroactive from June 1.
