Freeman named a top technology innovator

Freeman Co.Freeman, the a provider of integrated marketing solutions for face-to-face events, has announced that it made this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology.

Freeman earned the 134th ranking on the list for creating the Event Collaboration System, a tool for seamlessly processing customer orders. The 2011 list was revealed at a gala awards ceremony at the InformationWeek 500 Conference, which took place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, Calif.

“Communicating customer requirements for execution supports the backbone of our business, and the new Event Collaboration System allows us to do so efficiently and effectively,” said Richard Maranville, chief information officer of Freeman. “The tool has saved our employees significant labor hours, meaning we can dedicate more time to customer service.”

In response to its growth, Freeman redesigned its original process to better serve customer needs as well as reduce processing time and errors. Freeman created the Event Collaboration System, a paperless tool that allows employees to manage and access event documents and work tickets in a centralized location. Other benefits include the ability to track orders throughout the process, improving planning capabilities and reducing duplication of efforts. Freeman is also planning to extend these benefits directly to customers to further improve collaboration in the near future.

“For 23 years, the InformationWeek 500 has chronicled and honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said Rob Preston, editor in chief of InformationWeek. “In this day and age, however, being innovative isn’t enough. Companies and their IT organizations need to innovate faster than ever before to stay a step or two ahead of their customers, partners, and competitors. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those high-octane business technology innovators.”
