Spurred by the worldwide success of Global Exhibitions Day 2016, organizers spearheading activities for 2017 are planning wider and deeper activations to put the exhibition industry in the spotlight once again. Formal activities are being planned for June 7, which corresponds to the U.S. Exhibitions Day (June 6-7) sponsored by the Exhibitions Mean Business coalition. Those activities are being planned regionally across the globe by various members of the exhibition industry, including associations, show organizers, exhibit houses, and more, and the assortment of events being announced is limited only by the imagination.
Synthia Chan, council chairperson of the Macau Fair and Trade Association in China, told Exhibition World that participants there will be bringing the #GED17 logo for photo ops everywhere from the region’s UNESCO sites, to a group skydiving “skywalk” with 25 people, to a bungee jump from the city’s historic Macau Tower.
In other areas, symposiums, gatherings, and celebrations will mark the event, but activities won’t just be reserved for one day on the calendar. Fondazione Fiera Milano is sharing their enthusiasm for the exhibition industry through social media posts that have already begun and are promised to continue through June 7. The German Trade Fair Industry is coordinating a forum of industry experts who will introduce topics surrounding exhibitions and science to correspond with Global Exhibitions Day events. And social media platforms are already buzzing with the #GED17 hashtag as more groups around the world announce their plans for the day and their allegiance to the industry.
UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, has created a clearinghouse of #GED17 information on its website: www.ufi.org.
