EDPA NE Chapter’s “Rally at the Alley” Fundraiser for Kim Hally

The Exhibit Designers & Producers Association’s 2018 fundraiser, “Rally at the Alley” is returning to Splitsville at Patriot Place on May 10. This annual event is held to benefit an individual in need who has ties to the exhibit industry. 2018’s beneficiary will be the nonprofit, Help Hope Live, in honor of Kim Hally, wife of BlueHive Vice President Jack Hally.

On April 22, 2013, while attending her son Tim’s lacrosse game, Kim Hally suffered a devastating brain stem stroke that left her paralyzed from the neck down. Life for the Hally family has never been the same since that tragic day.

Despite the catastrophic impact on her health, she has fought tooth and nail not to let it consume her, and every day her attitude and progress continues to defy all expectations. She started with no movement from her neck down; five years later she has progressed to the point that she is now able to stand with some assistance. The stroke also left her with a collapsed windpipe, causing her to require a tracheotomy. The procedure initially prevented her from speaking and required her to take all nourishment through a feeding tube. Today, she can faintly talk and is even able to eat some solid foods.

Unfortunately, she still requires 24/7 care of aides and nurses, not all of whom are covered by insurance or the state brain injury program in which she is enrolled. All the medical expenses from medications to procedures have left her husband and their children drained, but still the Hally family fights on, together.

To support Hally, EDPA approached the Hally family and invited her to be 2018’s recipient. Together, they designed a program where the proceeds will go to Help Hope Live, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money and support through community-based fundraising to help families pay medical and related expenses in honor of Hally.
