The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) Annual Conference & Exhibition 2026 brought more than 6,000 participants and 200 exhibitors to P&J Live in Aberdeen, Scotland, delivering an estimated £13.2 million, approximately $17.6 million USD, economic impact for the city.
The 87th EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition took place Monday, June 8, through Thursday, June 11. Wider event activity ran across six days.
EAGE brings global energy audience to Aberdeen

The conference included more than 1,400 presentations.
The 2026 theme was “Maximizing Value Through Technology and Partnership.” The event brought geoscientists, engineers, academics, industry leaders, exhibitors, and students to Aberdeen.
EAGE Annual has previously taken place in cities including Vienna, London, Paris, Madrid, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam.
Event supports citywide business
The conference drove activity across Aberdeen’s hotels, restaurants, bars, transportation providers, and local suppliers.
According to the release, almost all city hotels sold out during the event. P&J Live also reported 5,500 hours for casual staff during the build, live event, and breakdown period.
“EAGE Annual 2026 has been an outstanding success for P&J Live, Aberdeen and the wider region,” says Steve Daun, head of sales, associations, Legends Global. “To welcome more than 6,000 participants, 200 exhibitors and a programme of more than 1,400 presentations demonstrates the scale of what was delivered and the strength of the partnership behind it.”
Outreach day adds education component

The event also included an EAGE Outreach Day for more than 200 children from 11 schools. The program focused on careers in geoscience and engineering.
Professor John Underhill, University of Aberdeen’s interdisciplinary director for energy transition, says the conference connected with the region’s energy, engineering, and geoscience base.
“Bringing EAGE to Aberdeen was an opportunity to showcase that expertise to a global audience, while also creating a meaningful legacy through field trips, outreach and engagement with young people,” Underhill says.
Destination partners point to event impact

Aberdeen Convention Bureau, P&J Live, academic partners, industry partners, hotels, and local stakeholders supported the event.
“The result was a conference that delivered immediate economic value and long-term destination profile,” says Laura Wilson, head of Aberdeen Convention Bureau. “Business events are high-value, highly measurable forms of tourism, and EAGE has shown how they can support the visitor economy while also strengthening Aberdeen’s reputation in priority sectors.”
Marcus Arthur, strategic project manager at EAGE, says Aberdeen matched the technical focus of the event.
“Aberdeen proved to be an excellent host city for EAGE Annual 2026,” Arthur says. “The event brought together our global community in a destination that understands the sector, reflects the theme of the conference and offers a strong connection between the traditional oil and gas industry and the emerging renewables and decarbonisation sectors.”
