The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has opened entries for the 2026 Battle of the Builders. This year, the program adds a Motorcycle category through the new SEMA Battle of the Builders: Bike Builder Shootout.
The competition will take place during the SEMA Show, Nov. 3-6 in Las Vegas. It gives custom motorcycle builders their own category within the event.
Motorcycle builders get dedicated competition
Judges will evaluate entries on craftsmanship, design innovation, and overall execution.
The inaugural panel includes Zach Ness of Arlen Ness Motorcycles, Jeff Holt of V-Twin Visionary, and Pat Patterson of Led Sled Customs.
First, the judges will select the Top 10 finalists. Then, those finalists will help choose the Top three category winners and the overall Bike Builder Shootout champion.
“Motorcycles have always been a vital part of the customization community, and we’re excited to officially bring these builders into the SEMA Battle of the Builders spotlight,” said RJ de Vera, vice president of marketing at SEMA. “The Bike Builder Shootout creates a new platform for motorcycle builders to showcase their craftsmanship, creativity, and passion while competing alongside some of the most talented custom bike builders in the industry.”

Existing automotive classes continue
The Motorcycle category joins four existing automotive classes: Hot Rod & Hot Rod Truck; 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road; Sport Compact, Import Performance, Luxury & Exotic; and BFGoodrich Young Guns.
Meanwhile, automotive finalists will continue to compete separately for the overall Battle of the Builders title.
SEMA Show attendees can also see the Bike Builder Shootout and Battle of the Builders competition in Central Hall.
The SEMA Show is produced by the Specialty Equipment Market Association and brings together manufacturers and buyers from across the automotive specialty equipment industry. For more information, visit semashow.com or semabotb.com.
