To showcase the importance of convention services to the overall meeting experience, the Association for Convention Operations Management (ACOM), announced it will hold it’s National Celebrate Services Day on September 16, 2010. The event is complemented by its theme, “Service; The Face of Promise, The Heart of Commitment.”
Through National Celebrate Services Day, ACOM members will have the opportunity to host, or attend a networking event with other convention services managers (CSMs) in their city. By participating in this initiative, members will help stimulate camaraderie among industry professionals, obtain new members for the association and ultimately help spread the word about the important role of convention services.
“364 days of the year CSMs are devoted to other organization’s events; this is their day to shine,” said Marilyn Healey, CMP, ACOM president. “National Celebrate Services Day will truly help showcase the importance of CSMs as partners to meeting planners, give members the opportunity to connect with other CSMs in their city and provide them with an outlet to celebrate their successes.”
Members can choose to host different types of events including networking receptions at a member venue, themed events, social or community outreach meetings, and doing activities unique to their area. The association will award the host with the most creative or unique event with a complementary 2011 Annual Conference registration.
