The past year has been tough for everyone, so a group of tradeshow and event professionals are trying to put food on the tables of their colleagues by hosting a food drive at Chicago’s McCormick Place on April 30, starting at 9 a.m. CDT. The food drive is to benefit professionals in the tradeshow and event industries.
Volunteers are being asked to spread the word in advance of the event. On the day of the food drive, they should bring an ESCA badge, an industry ID or a business card and should gather at the Gate 41 entrance to McCormick Place off of Cermak Road and South Indiana Avenue. Food will be supplied by the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository is part of a united community effort working to bring food, dignity and hope to people in Cook County. The depository acts as the hub for a network of more than 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs. These programs provide food where it’s most needed. The depository also addresses the root causes of hunger. Public benefits outreach and job training programs offer support to neighbors as they overcome poverty.
