Matt Abbott Joins ExCeL London as PR & Communications Manager

ExCeL London has announced the appointment of Matt Abbott in the new role of PR & communications manager.

Abbott joins from DP World London Gateway, one of the U.K.’s largest privately funded infrastructure projects and a fast-growing container port and industrial real estate development.

Prior to his time with DP World, Abbott worked as a reporter across a number of titles in South Essex, including the Basildon and Southend Echo and Thurrock Gazette.

Lucy Merritt, head of marketing & communications, says, “I am delighted to welcome Matt to the team. Every year, we welcome 4 million people, from every corner of the globe, to a range of exciting and diverse exhibitions, conferences and meetings. Communications is at the heart of our vision to be the home of world leading events. Matt’s role will enable us to ensure we engage with our customers, exhibitors, visitors, stakeholders and internal teams, in an even more creative and dynamic way. I look forward to working with Matt and wish him every success in his role.”

ExCeL London opened in November 2000, in an area of huge regeneration in London’s historic Royal Docks. Today, the venue hosts 300 events per year, welcoming 4 million visitors from every corner of the globe. Events hosted at ExCeL London generate £4.5bn in economic impact for London and support 37,600 jobs. Under the ownership of ADNEC, ExCeL London has seen significant investment in new facilities, including the opening of London’s International Convention Centre (ICC) and onsite hotel developments.
