Kevin Hinton officially accepted the reins as chairman of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) at MPI WEC for a one-year term effective July 1.
Hinton is executive vice president of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) and will serve as MPI chairman through July 1, 2013. He has served as chairman-elect for MPI for a year after previously being appointed by the association’s nominating committee and approved by its members.
As chairman of MPI, Hinton leads its 18-member board of directors, which is responsible for reviewing and approving the organization’s strategic plans, for overseeing financial integrity and for monitoring performance against organizational goals.
Hinton also serves on the MPI international board of directors and on the MPI executive committee. MPI is comprised of more than 21,000 members belonging to 71 chapters and clubs representing 86 countries.
As executive vice president of ALHI’s Associated Destinations Worldwide sales unit, Hinton oversees sales and services to the U.S. and Canadian meetings and incentive marketplace. ALHI provides meetings and event planners and their organizations with diverse options among its member hotels and resorts specializing in meetings, conventions and incentive programs.
