UFI Global Barometer shows strong 2013 exhibition activity

Continuing to grow the exhibition industry in 2013 despite the global economic downturn was the result of UFI’s 12th Global Barometer Survey.

An international association representing the exhibition industry, UFI said the white paper shows a considerable uptick in exhibition industry activity last year.

However, over half who responded shared that the effects of the economic downturn continue to impact their companies with at least one out of two companies noting turnover within their firms since 2011.

According to Paul Woodward, managing director, UFI, the industry continues to demonstrate what he called “strength through growth.”

“While we shall remain cautious about the development of the global economic situation, the exhibition media continues to demonstrate its strength with growth over the last four years,” said Woodward.

He added that the industry remains dynamic with a majority of companies embracing the challenges of new ranges of activity or geographical development.

The survey, conducted in December 2013, polled 178 companies from 57 countries. Full results of the survey can be downloaded at www.ufi.org/research.
