Reed scholarships support China’s next generation

To support the development of China’s exhibition industry, Reed Exhibitions Greater China re-partnered with Beijing International Studies University for a scholarship.

The Reed Exhibitions Greater China Scholarship encourages students to pursue academic accreditation in event management and cultivate their commitment to the exhibition industry. It also creates a powerful link to a future career with the global exhibitions organizer Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

“We created the Reed Exhibitions Greater China Scholarship because it was important for us to attract, motivate and facilitate bright minds into the event management industry,” said Nat Wong, president, Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

Six universities from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou nominated students for the RX China Scholarship. The Scholarship, to be awarded to 50 students, is worth a total of RMB 135,000 each year. It is awarded to young students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a firm commitment to contributing to the sustainable success of China’s exhibition trade.

“We’re proud to award grants to outstanding young talents who want to serve China’s M.I.C.E. trade through the exhibition industry,” added Wong. “Reed is dedicated to developing trade exhibitions and promoting international trade while also taking an active role in the communities in which we operate. This scholarship is just one of many ways in which we try to demonstrate leadership and good corporate citizenship.”

The Reed Exhibitions Scholarship Evaluation Committee is made up of Reed management, members of the China Exhibition Education Association and other industry experts. The grants will be presented by Wong and the chancellor of the Exhibition Education Association every November at the start of the new academic year.

The Scholarship signing ceremony was held Mar. 20 at Beijing International Studies University.

Recipients have impeccable character and a strong interest in community well-being. Further criteria are a track record of academic excellence, a propensity for innovation and a strong ability to comprehend holistic concepts. In addition to an internship at Reed, students who successfully win the scholarship for three consecutive years will potentially get full-time job opportunities in the company’s Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen offices.
