GIBTM 2012 announces new initiatives

A number of new initiatives are set to take place at the Gulf  Incentive, Business Travel, and Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM 2012), which will be held March 26-28, 2012, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The sixth edition of the event will, for the first time, present interactive education sessions to the Arab community that are dedicated to improving knowledge and understanding of the value of this sector.

With the region’s continued expansion of products and services dedicated to the business tourism, meetings and incentives industry, GIBTM will once again help to build a bridge with those professionals who are already working within the sector, but are still unaware of their position within the developing meetings industry.

“This is one of our key challenges each year,” said Lois Hall, Reed Travel Exhibitions manager, GIBTM. “As the growth of world–class infrastructure, new conference facilities and high quality venues increase in the region, GIBTM must continue to help the sector understand their own community, and use this event to not only gain knowledge and information, but to also network with peers and colleagues—it is the most valuable three days to develop their careers and we urge them to participate.”
Meetings presented by Ali Al Saloom of Ask-Ali.com, a recognized industry expert and cultural tourism consultant, will discuss how business travel provides a big opportunity in the region, linking the industry with Arabic traditions and culture.

Another new focus at the event will be educational sessions that aim to help individuals who are involved in planning business travel make well-informed decisions, reduce costs, enhance performance, and ultimately increase their network of suppliers. Those sessions will be presented by the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE). Other associations joining the education program include the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), and Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
