The First Financial Center in Cincinnati has named Byron Johnson director of operations. Johnson brings 17 years of experience in venue operations to the role.
He joins the center after its Jan. 21, 2026, reopening following a $264 million renovation.
Johnson most recently served as director of public safety and security for the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex. There, he oversaw the Raleigh Convention Center, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.
His experience also includes operations, guest services, capital projects, and venue management.
Johnson now joins a 750,000-square-foot convention center with 200,000 square feet of exhibit space. The facility also has two ballrooms, 28 meeting rooms, and a rooftop terrace. Legends Global manages the venue.
“His depth of experience and proven success across diverse venues make him uniquely qualified to lead our operations,” says Rodney Faulk, general manager of First Financial Center for Legends Global.
Johnson says he looks forward to working with the center’s team and supporting its clients, guests, and community.
“I’m excited to help strengthen the Center’s position as a premier destination for world-class meetings, events and entertainment,” Johnson says.
Meanwhile, development continues around the convention district. A new 700-room Marriott convention headquarters hotel broke ground in July 2026. Developers plan to open it in fall 2028 and connect it directly to the center by skybridge.
First Financial Center is a downtown Cincinnati convention venue managed by Legends Global.
